Launch of the Joint UN Regional Programme on sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR)/HIV and sexual and gender based violence integration

The regional offices of UNFPA, UNAIDS, UNICEF and WHO are implementing a USD45 million Joint United Nations four-year Regional Programme to support the Governments of Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe to reduce unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, new HIV infections, maternal mortality and sexual and gender-based violence.

The launch brings together Ministers of Health from Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, East Africa Community, Southern African Development Community, the regional directors of UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO, the Regional SRHR Team of the Embassy of Sweden, Lusaka, Zambia, representatives of civil society from the region and the five countries to engage in a roundtable discussion on the abovementioned issues.

The Joint UN Regional Programme is funded by the Government of Sweden.
